My Audacity Project (Mello Music)

Hey, everybody this is my Audacity assignment where we were asked to mix 5 songs together. The only requirements for the mp3 is that each of the songs have to connect with one word. So if a song ends in word "say" the next song has to start with the word "say." The music I chose is very mellow. I did not feel like using rap for this assignment because I didn't want to have to work around bad language or innapropriate things that would upset my teacher. I love all types of music so I decided to go with some mellow stuff for this assignment=)

My Flat Classroom Experience

The thing that I enjoyed most about this project was the freedom that we had to work individually on this group project. Most of the time on group projects you have to rely on other group members to get things done, with this project I could have done the entire thing myself if that was what needed to be done. Thankfully, there was at least one other person in my group of "How Digital Communication Tool affects Politics and the Government," that wanted to get this project done and get a good grade on it.

I only really faced one challenge during the project and that was figuring out who was working on what for the project. Pretty much on the first day I was able to complete one of the section by myself with a little bit of research. The rest of the time I was attempting to contact the other people in my group to see what they were planning to do in order to contribute to the project. As for the video, I had one major problem. The girl who signed up for my video didn't send it to me until one week before my video was due. Then, to make it worse I didn't realize she sent me the video until the day I was going to turn it in. When I looked at the video she sent me, it was so bad I wish it was a joke. I could not understand a word she was saying in it and even if I understand her she didn't get the basic point across to the audience that she was a worker at pizza hut. So, I did the only thing I could do to correct this and went over her video and had another girl record her voice as the audio so she could understand it.

The only change that I want to see personally to improve the flatclassroom project is the outsourced video should be judged by the teacher before being submitted to the person requesting the outsourced video. This way no one is stuck with putting a horrible outsourced video into their video that they worked hard on.

"Big Little Classrooms"

1) I believe that this Keynote is called "Big Little Classrooms" because Hawkssdale was a very small classroom but was connecting to people all over the world, in a sense expanding their classroom through the use of technology.

2) Hawkesdale used skype, elluminate, and many other virtual communication software in order to set up times for the kids to listen to featured speakers talk and connect with students from around the world.

3) Anne Mirtschin set up multiple confrenses with writers, geologist, scientists, and many other educationally prized occupations that her students can learn from and find inspiration through. She teaches her students how to use each of the programs that can connect them with people from around the world giving the students an opprotunity to ask questions to the speakers.

4) I believe that the teacher believes this because the students have the ability to ask the expert speakers questions about what they are talking about. It gives students an opprotunity to have their questions answered immediately when the standant textbooks wont give you an answer.

5) If there was no real-time connection between any group of people no matter where they are at in the world, nothing would get accomplished. Honesly, I believe that this program is super easy because my group has the ability to see what is going on with our project (real-time), and communicate with each other through our discussion boards. On these discussion boards we have the opprotunity to tell our group what we worked on, what needs to be changed, and anything else about the project.

Microsoft OneNote

For the past two weeks my digital communications class has been working with a Microsoft program called OneNote and I have discovered that this program is pretty sick. The program is pretty much a cross between Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint, but so much easier to use. OneNote can be used in multiple ways, but the best way to describe how to use it would be to say its a very organized sketchbook that you can do anything you want with. If you want to write a paper you can write a paper. If you want a place to take notes you can take your notes right on it. Heck if you want to scrap book you can use OneNote to scrap book. The one thing that makes OneNote so beneficial is how easy it is to use. Lets say your doing research for a research paper. On OneNote, not only can you type up an outline on the program, you can also add a screen clipping from the research you find on the Internet. A screen clipping is basically a picture that you take with you computer by selecting the text or picture you want from the Internet and add it into your OneNote document.

OneNote is different from other Microsoft software that I have used because it allows me to do everything I want in it. Normally whenever I type something up Microsoft word does the job, but sometimes the formatting gets screwed up because Word is so structured. Don't even get me started on trying to add pictures into my Word documents. That stuff is impossible to format. Then, when I use Microsoft Powerpoint its way chill to format and organize pictures and clip art, but when it comes to adding text and such to the slide it begins to fill up. Well, Microsoft OneNote doesn't have any of these problems. Formatting is completely up to you as the creator and you never run out of room or need to go onto a new slide. This program is very beneficial for students and business professionals because it allows the user to do their own thing and keep the creative juices flowing without have to worry about formatting or adding a new slide.

My Websites

The top three sites that I use on the internet are:
http://www.thissongissick.com/
http://www.iowagolf.org/
 https://www.knockaround.com/

Thissongissick.com is a music blog from the University of Colorado. It has a lot of house-techno music that can sometimes be good and I can always find some chill new hip-hop on there. I use Iowagolf.com to check where I finished in tournaments and look up my past scores to send to college coaches. Knockaround.com is the site I use to get good cheap sunglasses.

First Post Ya Digg

My name is Sam Elliott and I am currently a senior at Valley High School. I'm an outgoing kid who is always down with the flow of things. Friends are who I spend most of my time with, but family is always number one. I'm a social kid who always enjoy meeting new people. My favorite color is green. My favorite number is #4. Golf is my life. It's what I am going to college for and is what I am doing all day everyday when I am not kicking it with friends.

Technology that I use on a daily basis include my phone and the internet. Social media websites such as Facebook are what help my friends and I connect through a more public forum. Without facebook it would be difficult for me to stay in touch with long distance friends, such as ones from other countries, and communitcate with multiple people at once. If I was to go without my phone living my life would be a lot more of a challenge. The legistration that banned the use of cell phone use while driving for teenages has already made my social life a little more difficult. So, if I wasn't able to have a phone at all, not just when I'm driving, it would drive make me crazy.
